Local Activities
For hiking, Turtle Back Mesa is close to Nature Conservancy land and Joshua Tree National Park. Indian Canyons are in nearby Palm Springs. Ernest and Marlyn can inform you about areas which are suitable for hiking au naturel.
If you come by car, you are close to Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and Rancho Mirage, which have gambling casinos, restaurants, theaters, art galleries, museum, golf courses, performing art center, and shopping centers.
In Palm Springs, you can ride the Aerial Tramway from palms to pines. The cable car takes cross-country skiers in winter and hikers in summer to Mt. San Jacinto trails.
Or at Turtle Back Mesa, do nothing at all. Chill out, hang loose, unwind, relax, and “recharge your battery.” Soak up the sun and the hot mineral water and watch the colors in the sky gradually change during the long, lingering desert dusk. Count a million stars in the black velvet sky at night.
